God Of War DLC Would Have Taken Too Long To Make

Cory Barlog’s gamble paid off big time as Game of the Year 2018 winner God of War was met with tremendous praise and commercial success. The narrative left open several options for parallel stories and we could have witnessed a God of War DLC had Cory Barlog not been so ambitious with his plans

“I had a really fun idea for a DLC that I only regret because I would love to have done that but it was too ambitious” Cory told Kinda Funny on their podcast show TheGameOverGreggy show.

God of War Game

According to him, If there was a DLC for God of War it would have been big enough to have its own standalone release much like the Uncharted franchise’s Lost Legacy and The Last of Us Left Behind.

He added “It would have ended up being its own thing, rightfully so, everybody said, ‘Dude, this is crazy, this isn’t DLC, this is a little too big.” Although the game did receive post launch content such as the Photo Mode and New Game+ options with the latter adding new armor and some customization options, you never know, we could see a God of War DLC before the sequel.

God of War won the Game of the Year award but it came as a surprise for the Santa Monica team attending the ceremony “The camera’s were pointed towards the Red Dead guys” recalls Cory implying that the award organizers surprised them. Watch the podcast below.
